Painted Lady Home & Garden strives to create beautiful spaces inside and outside of the home.
A woman owned and operated business in Midcoast, Maine established by sole proprietor Caroline Keefe in 2024. Specializing in fine interior and exterior painting and gardens.
The Woman Behind Painted Lady Home & Garden
Caroline is a Midcoast Maine native, born and raised. She is a graduate of Camden Hills and the University of Southern Maine, where she earned a degree in anthropology and studio art. Caroline also works as an artist in addition to her career in the trades.
Caroline began working in the trades under the guidance of a seasoned female carpenter, Sunshine Stewart. Working as an independent contractor, she learned everything from demolition to fine finish work in a variety of materials. Since then, Caroline has also worked for North Atlantic Painting Company where she honed her most beloved craft, painting.
Currently, Caroline is affiliated with Lee Schneller Fine Gardens where she has learned the art of maintaining everblooming gardens inspired by native Maine and Japanese aesthetic and philosophy.
With the combination of these backgrounds and skills, coupled with the desire to carve out more space for women in the trades, Painted Lady Home & Garden takes root.
The Philosophy & Values Behind Painted Lady Home & Garden
Woman Owned and Operated
As a female in the trades, the work is about more than just the job at hand. Women only make up 3% of the trades workforce in the U.S. Therefore, being a woman in the trades is an act of radical feminism. The work is about dismantling harmful capitalist, patriarchal ideologies and repatriating knowledge that has been traditionally controlled by the hands of men, as well as creating the space to encourage more women, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ individuals to enter the trades. Painted Lady Home & Garden is a radical outpost and agent for revolutionary values. When you support Painted Lady Home & Garden, you support a change in paradigm.
Energy Matters
At Painted Lady Home & Garden we believe that the energy we put into spaces is sacred. Your home is a sanctuary and should be treated as such. Intentional rituals ensure that work is done at a high vibration. Showing up to a job site on time, clear headed, and grounded is essential when executing work that will not only improve how a home looks but also how a home feels. All work is started with intention and finished with intention to affect the visible and non-visible realms that create our home environments.
Environmental Awareness
Painted Lady Home & Garden strives to create as little job site waste as possible by reusing and recycling materials as much as possible. Plastics always get more than one use and rags are also washed and reused. Unfortunately every job site generates waste. Painted Lady Home & Garden believes that it is possible to improve the environmental standard in the trades industry and prioritizes working with environmentally friendly practices and products whenever possible.
